OPERATIONS MANAGER

Haskè Ventures is looking for an experienced and ambitious Operations Manager to join our team in Dakar, Senegal. The main objectives of the Operations Manager will be to lead the company's operations in different areas such as IT, finance, talent, facilities, logistics, etc. The Operations Manager will play a key role in maintaining and growing the operational standards of our venture studio. They will have a sharp business mind and proven success in managing multiple departments for maximum productivity. The Operations Manager is willing to roll up his or her sleeves and have a strong execution/delivery approach. 

RESPONSIBILITIES OF THIS ROLE

  • Operations and Finance: 

    • Oversee daily operations of Haskè Ventures and its business units (IT, finance, talent, systems, etc.) 

    • Manage the company's financials (management & statutory accounts) while ensuring the company maintains efficient and effective financial control systems 

    • Manage the planning and execution of annual financial audits and any other audits as may be required by country regulations 

    • Oversee the quarterly financial reports, organise board meetings and manage the front desk team 

    • Develop and control all operational budgets based on the agreed monthly burn 

    • Manage office facilities and equipment, supervise travels and logistics for Haskè Ventures 

    • Manage relationships with different external suppliers (including bankers, health insurance, other business units, etc.) and third-party contractors (accountants, tax professionals, legal counsel, etc.), and ensure timely payment of invoices (as well as reimbursement of staff expenses) 

  • HR and Compliance:

    • Oversee the implementation of the HR roadmap developed by and with the Talent Manager  

    • Ensure that appropriate policies and procedures are in place with regard to all operational elements encompassing HR, procurement, tendering processes, etc., to secure the best deals for the company 

    • Supervise payroll submission, filing of employment taxes, and staff contributions to social security and pension and ensure the relevant payments are made on time 

    • Responsible for ensuring the signing, filing, and maintenance of all contracts and any statutory returns 

    • Liaise with legal and tax advisors to ensure completion of all tax schedules and further ensure that local and foreign taxes are complied with 

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in operations management, business administration, or related field 

  • 8+ years of proven success in an operations management role 

  • Strong skills in budget development and oversight 

  • Good leadership and communication skills 

  • Understanding of advanced business planning and regulatory issues 

  • Solid grasp of data analysis and performance metrics 

  • Ability to diagnose problems quickly and foresee potential issues 

  • Excellent ability to delegate responsibilities while maintaining organizational control of branch operations and customer service 

  • Proficiency in conflict management and business negotiation processes 

  • Comfortable operating within a team of 40+ requiring collaboration and supervising individuals with multiple roles 

  • Knowledge of office management responsibilities, systems, and procedures 

  • Computer skills, knowledge of office software packages, database development 

  • Knowledge of accounting, data, and administrative management practices and procedures 

  • Knowledge of human resources management practices and procedures 

  • Bilingualism—English and French is a plus
